Kazakhstan deems to waive visa requirements for Thais

In a bid to attract more Thai travelers to the land-locked Central Asian republic Kazakhstan is planning to offer visa waiver for them.

Kazakh ambassador to Thailand, Marat Yessenbayev, said that the elimination of visa prerequisites for Thai citizens could come into effect within the coming 18 months.

He observes that visa waiving as a vital driver to enhance Thai visitors, particularly travelers, to Kazakhstan.

Each year, only around 1,000 Thai citizens arrive to the former Soviet Union republic, extremely less than 7,000 odd Kazakhs who enter Thailand for vacations yearly.

Kazakhstan's complex visa process has been referred to as a main obstacle to Thais' entering the country that remains off the native’s tourism radar.

However, few Thai travelers get around the process by lodging transit visa applications, which charges $20 and a period one week to process, but i.e. only probable if individuals have flights to other nations and are only ending over in Kazakhstan.

The plan to eliminate the prerequisites for visas for temporary visits by Thais nationals demonstrates Astana's plan to endorse its rising tourism sector and get ready for Expo 2017 in Astana.

As per the World Bank, in 2012, the Kazakhstan allured 4.8 million overseas inbound tourists. There are only around 10 countries, which include Hong Kong, Japan as well as Malaysia, whose nationals get visa exemptions for visits to Kazakhstan.
